You may remember The Wanderess’s stay at their ever-popular Cactus Mountain Airbnb, but now I want to transport you to their newest hacienda, an affordable Airbnb for architecture aficionados, The Geodome. The Wanderess Has Your Next Airbnb All Lined Up, An Architectural Destination On A Budget! Its structure was one I couldn’t fathom existing within the world of straight, conservative lines. Further, it was home to the stars, and that amazed me. Fast forward to a month ago, me still barefoot and chasing the stars, needing a blast of creative inspiration, but not having the funds to go very far. We packed up the pick-up truck and sought out nature as our muse. Into the desert, we went. You can only imagine my delight to spend a night in the quaint geodesic structure that is The Geodome. An aesthetic sanctuary amongst the yucca trees — this is the Joshua Tree locale you’ve been waiting for: still off the beaten path, and right in your budget. Displaying that eye for design and style Tienlyn is so well known for, the accommodation is stocked with everything you could want from cozy kitchen to outdoor lounge-space and even a bocce ball court. The A.C. is on high when you need a hideout from the heat. Joshua Tree holds so much mystic for so many already, and this addition is a diamond in the rough desert terrain. Book the Geodome here on Airbnb, and you can finally tick “sleep in a geodesic structure” off your bucket list.

A Travel Guide to Italy’s Amalfi Coast

THE WANDERESS | DEDICATED TO THOSE WHO MOVE THROUGH

& PURPOSEFUL ACTIONS.

The Wanderess's Guide to The Amalfi Coast, Travel Guide, Italy, Travel, Sorrento, Napoli, Conca Dei Marini, Amalfi, Airbnb, Bellevue Syrene, Pizza, Pasta - Verite PublishedOnce again The Wanderess is stirring, as she flees reality for The Amalfi Coast — Italy’s Province of Salerno. Jetting south from Milan to Napoli by train, she seeks to get lost in the narrow streets and feast on as many dishes of native dough she can find. Here, it is quiet, full of blooming Bougainvillea, and though she’s never been here before, it feels like home.
Read on for a travel guide to Italy’s Amalfi Coast — sneaking into the best private beaches, where to find the most divine flat crust pizza and beautiful stays within budget.

The smells of charcuterie being laid out, mixed with ocean breeze & exhaust from each Vespa that crams through the angular streets welcomes mornings with open arms. The building, more than dreamy — a beautiful old storied home, complete with marble spiraled staircase.
Bellevue Syrene: If you’re more inclined to find yourself in a resort setting, this is the perfect pick. Its floor to ceiling windows and private beach are a fit for a Principessa. The interior game is out of this world with carefully collected sculptures, art, and tiled scenes.

Eat/Drink | L’Antica TrattoriaAfter a long day of dodging fiat’s in the narrow streets of Sorrento, while shopping for trinkets, find yourself at L’Antica with a bottle of wine for an al fresco dinner.

See | If you’re brave enough, meander down through the tunnels and caves that lead you to Bellevue Syrene’s private swimming hole. The Wanderess found herself here often for a quick morning dip in the sun-warmed waters. The Wanderess's Guide to The Amalfi Coast, Travel Guide, Italy, Travel, Sorrento, Napoli, Conca Dei Marini, Amalfi, Airbnb, Bellevue Syrene, Pizza, Pasta - Verite Published

Stay | Airbnb: This little yellow house clinging to the hillside is called Carmen, and the perfect place to hide out just a stone’s throw from the saltiest of seas. The Wanderess couldn’t have made up a place more perfect to rest her bones.

Eat/Drink | Belvedere Hotel: smack between the beach and the steep cliff terrain that makes up Conca Dei Marini, this becomes the ultimate breakfast spot due to the view alone. Feast on full breakfasts that will sustain your day’s adventures while eyeing the endless big blue.

See | There’s nothing more to see then the winding steps of this tiny town, that lead you down to the bathwater swimming holes along the coast — and that’s how we liked it.

Eat/Drink | Da Maria Trattoria Pizzeria: This spot must be run by none other than the thin crust pizza gods. Sit out front, a bottle of red wine at your fingertips, and soak in Amalfi life as it strides by in nightly festivities.

See | Get lost among the winding back alleys that will eventually spit you out at the Duomo. Just to the Duomo’s left is one of the world’s most sacred places, Cloister of Paradise. Its purpose serves as an ancient relics and crypt. (first image below).

Images by Allister Ann.

There’s a vibration here that unhinges ones creativity and, in the quiet, in the space, you can flourish. The air smells of palo santo, thick and humid it carries across the open plains of cacti, and rugged landscape. Cactus Mountain is the passion project of owners Tienlyn & Nikko, which was built by hand and now available as a dream getaway via Airbnb. A perfect mix of desert rustic, and minimal sensibility — The Wanderess finds this the perfect creative cleanse for a stagnant case of writers block, and a much needed escape from the city.

Eat / Drink | La Copine Kitchen: New to the neighborhood and with a mouth-watering selection of California cuisine, it’s the must hit spot for cool kids passing through the Yucca Valley.
Joshua Tree Saloon: If you want to get really integrated into true JT life, this is the place. A rack of ribs, and a Wednesday eve of karaoke is just what the doctor ordered.
Papi & Harriett’s: What one can only hope for as refuge on a long cross-country road trip, this is the roadside dream. Burgers and live music — need we say more.

See | Sunrise over Cactus Mountain: The Wanderess treats herself to a sunrise everywhere she travels. This one however was magically memorable.
The End: This vintage shop is exactly what The Wanderess dreamed of in terms of stumbling upon hidden gems in the desert. Brimming with good finds, it’s insanely well-curated.
Indian Cove: This is where serious desert terrain comes to life. Massive, time-carved stones, and vast scenes leave lots of space for Insta-worthy shots.

Here, she recharges for her next adventure, and feeds off the energy of LA’s lesser known end. Thus, we only thought it more than time for The Wanderess’s weekend guide to NELA.

Eat / Drink | Ostrich Farm: A Wanderess favorite — Ostrich Farm is a go-to for mid-day bites. The bowls are out of this world, and won’t derail your good diet choices.

Commissary at The Line Hotel: Dreamy AF is the only way to describe this spot. indulge among the greenery in what can only be described as the worlds most stylish green house.

The Wanderess’s Guide To Mexico’s Next Big Escape

THE WANDERESS | DEDICATED TO THOSE WHO MOVE THROUGH
THE WORLD WITH LIGHT FEET, OPEN HEARTS
& PURPOSEFUL ACTIONS.

The Wanderess's Guide To Mexico's Next Big Escape, Zihuatanejo, Viceroy, Airbnb, Loot MX, Gypset, Travel, Mexico, The Wanderess, Spring Break - Verite Published

Vérité’s gypsy-minded alter-ego, The Wanderess, can often be found hoping from California cabin, to the likes of a Moroccan mirage. This time, she sought out solace in Mexico. Finding it in the Southern swoop of the country, the small town of Zihuatanejo, Guerrero — more than satisfying in its remoteness, she shunned her iPhone (except to snap photos) and brought along a favorite beach read. Past the palm forests, is a crescent moon shaped cove — one that is in no doubt about to blow up. You can tell not only because resorts like the Viceroy have marked territory here, but its under-the-radar-charm is undeniable. The landscape strangely bringing to mind the plunging layout of the Amalfi Coast, only with a mix of that vibrant Mexican character.
While Tulum may be having its moment, those seeking to shy away from the crowds can find sanctuary in the form of a hillside infinity pool. The Wanderess flipped open that beach read to find writer Anais Nin six decades prior on those same dusty paths. No one could have illustrated the traits of ZIH better than when Nin penned extensively in her diary of this region which she loved deeply:
“A new territory of pleasure. The green foliage is not like any other green; it is deeper, lacquered, moist. The leaves are heavier and fuller, the flowers bigger. They seem surcharged with sap, and more alive, as if they never have to close against the frost, or even a cold night. As if they have no need of sleep…We took a walk to the beach. The flowers which opened their velvety faces toward us were so eloquent they seemed about to speak. The sand did not seem like sand, but like powdered glass which reflected the light.”
Years have past, roads have been built, but the heart of the land has hardly changed. Read on for The Wanderess’ guide to Mexico’s next big escape, and why we couldn’t help but depart deeply attached with Nin’s words in our hearts, “When I came out of the sea, I felt reborn. I longed for this simplified life.”

The Wanderess's Guide To Mexico's Next Big Escape, Zihuatanejo, Viceroy, Airbnb, Loot MX, Gypset, Travel, Mexico, The Wanderess, Spring Break - Verite PublishedIt’s hard to go astray when it comes to accommodations in ZIH — from the boutique-sized hotels like the Viceroy, to peaceful hillside Airbnb’s like the one The Wanderess nestled into comfortably. Its infinity pool and cliff-side balcony lets you eat your heart out over bowls of fresh fruit. We suggest finding a spot above the downtown area, for prime views among the palm fronds and welcoming parrots.

While we stuck to wandering by foot, you can surely book yourself a sunset cruise, or beach horseback ride.

LOOT | Possibly the most exotic concept store & restaurant we’ve ever stumbled upon, LOOT looks like it could be the coolest new hang in Venice Beach, only with a Gypset twist. The three story, stunningly designed building holds a restaurant, rooftop bar, gallery, and shop. A little Malin & Goetz over fresh green juice never hurt anyone. In the evenings, one can find themselves dancing into the night on the stores cement floors.

Downtown Zihuatanejo | If you meander down through the streets you are met with a local world that feels far from the Viceroy’s beach front. More so, you feel safe to walk languidly and explore the local haunts. Indigenous bites, and fruit carts will greet you at every corner.

Beach Side Massages | In our opinion this is a no-miss situation. Walk down the beach and you will find breezy white tents where you can get a wonderful wave-side massage for just a handful of pesos.

Paty’s Yoga Studio & MassageIf you find yourself yearning to detox from last nights margaritas, or just get in rhythm with the ocean’s pace, tap in for a morning yoga session, and tap out from the world.

The Wanderess's Guide To Mexico's Next Big Escape, Zihuatanejo, Viceroy, Airbnb, Loot MX, Gypset, Travel, Mexico, The Wanderess, Spring Break - Verite Published The Wanderess's Guide To Mexico's Next Big Escape, Zihuatanejo, Viceroy, Airbnb, Loot MX, Gypset, Travel, Mexico, The Wanderess, Spring Break - Verite PublishedFood is undoubtedly the way to experiencing and understanding any culture. Here, the fresh flavors and heartwarming classic dishes put to shame any second hand take on Mexican cuisine.

Paty’s  | This will soon become your morning routine in ZIH, as it’s placed just steps from the waves. The fish tacos and the papaya ginger smoothie linger on your mind well after you’ve left. You’ll soon meet Paty herself, as she does her rounds greeting guests when she’s not teaching yoga at her neighboring studio.
LOOT | See above, this is where you can find the good coffee and a well designed spot on the patio. Stay long enough and you’ll run into the most stylish of transplants.
Margaritas Restaurant Bar | It’s buzzed to be the best breakfast in town & a great place to bump into fellow travelers, over pancakes & well, margaritas. With dinner comes live music, and warm ocean nights.
