The Wanderess's Guide to The Amalfi Coast, Travel Guide, Italy, Travel, Sorrento, Napoli, Conca Dei Marini, Amalfi, Airbnb, Bellevue Syrene, Pizza, Pasta - Verite PublishedOnce again The Wanderess is stirring, as she flees reality for The Amalfi Coast — Italy’s Province of Salerno. Jetting south from Milan to Napoli by train, she seeks to get lost in the narrow streets and feast on as many dishes of native dough she can find. Here, it is quiet, full of blooming Bougainvillea, and though she’s never been here before, it feels like home.
Read on for a travel guide to Italy’s Amalfi Coast — sneaking into the best private beaches, where to find the most divine flat crust pizza, and beautiful stays within budget.

The smells of charcuterie being laid out, mixed with ocean breeze & exhaust from each vespa that crams through the angular streets welcomes mornings with open arms. The building, more than dreamy — a beautiful old storied home, complete with marble spiraled staircase.
Bellevue Syrene: If you’re more inclined to find yourself in a resort setting, this is the perfect pick. Its floor to ceiling windows, and private beach are a fit for a Principessa. The interior game is out of this world with carefully collected sculptures, art, and tiled scenes.

Eat/Drink | L’Antica TrattoriaAfter a long day of dodging fiat’s in the narrow streets of Sorrento, while shopping for trinkets, find yourself at L’Antica with a bottle of wine for an al fresco dinner.

See | If you’re brave enough, meander down through the tunnels and caves that lead you to Bllevue Syrene’s private swimming hole. The Wanderess found herself here often for a quick morning dip in the sun-warmed waters. The Wanderess's Guide to The Amalfi Coast, Travel Guide, Italy, Travel, Sorrento, Napoli, Conca Dei Marini, Amalfi, Airbnb, Bellevue Syrene, Pizza, Pasta - Verite Published

Stay | Airbnb: This little yellow house clinging to the hillside is called Carmen, and the perfect place to hide out just a stones throw from the saltiest of seas. The Wanderess couldn’t have made up a place more perfect to rest her bones.

Eat/Drink | Belvedere Hotel: smack between the beach and the steep cliff terrain that makes up Conca Dei Marini, this becomes the ultimate breakfast spot due to the view alone. Feast on full breakfasts that will sustain your day’s adventures while eyeing the endless big blue.

See | There’s nothing more to see than the winding steps of this tiny town, that lead you down to the bathwater swimming holes along the coast — and that’s how we liked it.

Eat/Drink | Da Maria Trattoria Pizzeria: This spot must be run by none other than the thin crust pizza gods. Sit out front, bottle of red wine at your fingertips, and soak in Amalfi life as it strides by in nightly festivities.

See | Get lost among the winding back alleys that will eventually spit you out at the Duomo. Just to the Duomo’s left is one of the world’s most sacred places, Cloister of Paradise. It’s purpose serves as an ancient relics and crypt. (first image below).

It’s the sound that signifies so many things. Time for repose, time for a warm tarte, time for the farmer’s market to pack up and return to their own family’s table. I’m reminded that it seems the only thing I ever do in this country is eat, sleep, repeat. It’s appropriate to have a glass of rosé at this hour, and so my siesta is heavy and often lasts well into the late afternoon. I hardly feel guilty, I’m on vacation, and plus the streets are practically barren during these hours anyways. Back home I don’t prepare meals other than the random dinner. I throw things on a cutting board, wolf them down, get back to my keyboard. Here there are days when we prepare extensive salads of fresh produce, burrata, thick with balsamic. Others we purchase fresh ravioli from the Italian’s at the market. When boiled they become much larger than we ever could have anticipated but we gorge ourselves silly on them. And then there’s bread, there’s always the warm bread from the baker just down the street. We plan to get there early so we can snatch up the best baguettes before the working crowd. I’ve stayed so many days in this town that I begin to recognize faces. Not just the vibrant blonde girl that serves our morning cappuccinos, but during these mid-day hours as people flood from their offices on to the cobble stones. It almost makes me think I live here. One being for now it’s easier than the paperwork for a work visa. But truly it’s because there’s a lifestyle here that reminds one what the core of joy itself is in such a tumultuous time: our loved ones, delicious dishes, and moments of meditation on beauty.

A Gypset Guide to Morocco | A Travel Story

That’s why we packed our bags and jetted off to Africa to visit the intoxicating land of Morocco. Find: A Gypsets’ Travel Guide to Morocco — all things eat, drink, stay, and of course see, for the most stylish of travelers.

We found ourselves (with the help of our wonderful Airbnb owner turned tour guide) posting up at the most coveted of spots.

Stay | La Tangerina: A swoon-worthy Riad cuddled into the depths of the Old Medina, La Tangerina has everything from an in-house Hammam to that stunning blue bathroom situation below.
Airbnb: There are plenty of Airbnb options for prime location/ local experiences. We stayed here, and it was the perfect get-away from the hustle of the bazaar.

Eat/Drink | Villa Josephine: Make your way up to the hotel for a pre-dinner cocktail & a few stolen quiet moments in this overwhelmingly beautiful location. We suggest a glass of Moroccan origin wine to go with your prime view of the garden.

O. Tri. K: This spot was suggested straight from the locals and we were immediately charmed by the strangely Americana-reminiscent decor, and enticing French menu. The live music added a layer of European delight to the whole affair.

The Tangerinn: Also a hidden local gem, this bar is surely where Tangiers’ cool kids hang out. One finds themselves with an American style cocktail in hand, head bobbing to great music.

See | The Sunset at Le Mirage: Jetting out over the water, the hotels’ restaurant balcony is exactly where one should settle in to admire the sun as it plunges into the sea.

Stay | Riad Fez: With luxe interiors, and outdoor swimming pool this is the wanderlusts stay of choice.

Eat/Drink | Palais La Medina: If you’re looking for the grand Moroccan experience, this is surely it. Finding oneself seated between walls of colorful cut tiles, and hand carved arches, cuisine Morocaine is served. What happens during the meal however is truly the main attraction — belly dancers, live music, and magic unfold all while you consume mass amounts of tajine.

See | The Old Souk: A willing tour guide will benefit you as you set out to take on The Old Medina’s market, also known as The Old Souk. This is the prime place to stock up on leather goods — such as slippers, slippers and more slippers.

The Tannery: If you’re feeling up for some serious smells, make your way to The Tannery to observe the stunning process of coloring and crafting leather.

There are some corners of our world that are almost unbelievable to our jaded eyes. Chefchaouen, also known as The Blue City, is one of these destinations. You’ve surely seen its likes in the pages of Nat Geo, or on some lucky nomads Instagram — however to absorb its brilliant blues in real life is another experience entirely.

Stay | Casa Hassan: Easy to miss among all the other grand blue doors, this unassuming stay is just the place to lay your head after a long day of delving into the blue.

Eat/Drink | Restaurant Tissemlal: This traditional fare purveyor is an extension of Casa Hassan, and a delicious option for large portions and comfortable ambiance.

See | Go Into The Blue: There’s nothing better to find yourself doing than getting lost in the nooks and crannies of this azure-hued city.

The city is strung with a magic that is reserved for places that are frequently admired yet somehow unbroken by the outside world.

Stay | Hotel Du Tresor: You know when you stumble on a photo on Pinterest of a far-off destination that looks like nothing one could even dream-up? That’s Hotel Du Tresor. With its booming lemon tree serving as centerpiece to the insane beauty of the accommodation, and perfectly modernized Moroccan bedrooms. You’ll want to retire to your room, and stay for good.

Eat/Drink | Café Des Épices: There’s no better spot to refuel after a long jaunt through the bazaar than this perfectly trendy spot. We highly suggest taking a spiced coffee for the team.

Nomad: Owned by the same people that brought you the latter, Nomad is the perfect stylish balance between Moroccan interiors, and refined newness. Modernized cuisine, and refreshing lemon juice makes for a filling break above the cities constant flow.

I Limoni: An extension of Hotel Du Tresor, we highly suggest you do not leave Marrakech without taking in this equally-Instagram worthy location, and its fare. With both Italian and Moroccan choices, you’re transported to a hybrid destination.

See | Le Jardin Majorelle: Where Yves Saint Laurent and partner Pierre Bergé once called their sanctuary, this garden brings a high of history and design that is still muse to many.

Heritage Spa: Not to be overlooked, this hidden place will renew your sense of soul, and leave you glowing in fresh flesh. The traditional Hammam experience consisting of a black soap scrub — throw in an oil massage — is just what your tired bones will need before you board your flight back to reality.
